Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yeol said on the 23rd regarding the victory of Kyoto International High School, a Korean school in Japan, in the Japan National High School Baseball Championship, also known as the “Summer Koshien,” saying, “I am very proud and happy about this great achievement.”

Minister Cho posted a congratulatory message to the students of Kyoto International High School on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' social network service (SNS) on the same day, saying, "(The championship) is a great achievement achieved through the sweat and passion of the players, managers, and coaches, as well as the enthusiastic support shown by the faculty, staff, and the Korean community."

He added, "Kyoto International High School has been a symbol of 커뮤니티 harmony between Korea and Japan and a bridge of friendship, receiving much love from both peoples." He added, "I hope that it will continue to grow as a cradle of learning that continuously produces future leaders, with the pride of being a school that has won the Koshien Tournament."

Kyoto International High School won 2-1 in an overtime close match against the Tokyo representative Kanto Daiichigo in the final match of the 106th Summer Koshien Main Tournament held at Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Hyogo Prefecture.

Kyoto International High School was founded in 1947 as Kyoto Korean Middle School, which was founded by Koreans living in Japan who voluntarily raised money for national education. In 2003, it received official recognition as a school from the Japanese government and changed its name to the current Kyoto International High School.
